The Roberts Family

Charles Roberts married Mary Shipley at Scotter in north Lincolnshire on 26 February 1838. Both were then living at Scotterthorpe, and they later made their home at Waddingham. These villages are also in north Lincolnshire.

Mary's father William was born in Epworth in the Isle of Axholme.

Many members of the Roberts family were involved in the iron industry that developed around Frodingham and Gunness, now Scunthorpe.

In New Zealand, Annie Roberts married Samuel Hewett. Particulars from their marriage certificate are reproduced below. (Certificate reference 85/2521)
