Newsgroups are basically a public place where anyone can post a message, or reply
to existing messages. They tend to create communities of people who are geographically
dispersed but share a common interest. It can make for great community interaction.
Some newsgroups are very active, with hundreds of postings a day. Others might have
no messages for weeks at a time.
